My husband is diligent taking care of our old car - he takes it for oil change / checkups, air in the tires, we take it for yearly inspections, replace parts... It is a car - a mechanical construction.
Are we robots and need the same service? Do we need to be told what to eat, when to sleep or when to drink, do the checkups? Do we need a mechanic to look under our hood? Or can we stay in tune with our own sophisticated amazing self?
Do we need to eat whole balanced energy and life-giving diverse good-tasting foods or do we have to buy what the companies try to "scientifically" convince us to?
I love to eat, which you may not think looking at me. My father used to joke that it was easier to make me drunk than to satisfy my appetite :)
What did I like to eat? Watermelon, potatoes were my favorite - real food. We never craved junk food.
I notice that when I'm truly hungry after being outdoors for hours, it may not matter what foods I combine - my whole digesting machine is ready and does a good job. I have plenty of saliva and digestive juices, and I'm focused on what I'm eating.
How many of us gulp our food and focus on doing something else while eating? We do not eat good food either - highly processed devitalized products with added preservatives and a ton of additives to make it palatable. And on top of that, chemicals are added "for your benefit" :) Then, we "supplement" our digestion, try to cleanse our liver and so on. I can not even swallow capsules - maybe, because my body needs to taste first what I'm putting in. And how do they know how much of these man-made little powders, etc. may be good for each individual???
When I'm stressed, I sometimes eat, even though I'm not hungry. I'm focused on my stress, not eating. Maybe, instinctively, I'm looking for something to make me feel better. Yet, sometimes, when I'm upset, I stop eating. It would be easier if I focused on what bothers me, took a break, or a walk.
Why don't some people sleep at night? Maybe because they eat late, stressing their body to digest and process their food when their whole organism is resting. Or thinking...
Balance - I strive to have balance in my own body. When I drink my raw goat milk, I view it as food that makes my stomach feel good - it tastes good to me for now. I know that kefir is a byproduct of kefir grains digesting milk. It has yeasts, alcohol and whey- why put it in my stomach? For now, that's what I like to eat. Maybe, if I eat more balanced food with greens, I will not crave kefir. For example, in Georgia, Caucasus, they eat a lot of greens with a small amount of protein. Most people there are skinny, in shape.
I like to make my miniature wraps, or combine nuts with salad and run it through my masticating juicer. I'm working on creating better eating habits.
What happens when we overeat? Our body naturally creates more acid, and what they label "Candida over grows" , which in fact is our body trying to consume the "toxic load" . People rush to take antibiotics to suppress the body's natural abilities to process and balance. It reminds me of trying to get rid of helpful ants that come to eat the crumbs.
Everything in nature has a purpose even if we may not be fully aware of it. It is interesting to watch how in nature everything is rhythmic, slow, tuned to seasons and the weather. We are nature too and our whole beings are tuned to our environment.
Why not focus on nourishing ourselves properly so that we don't waste time, money and do harm to our health?
