One evening, our dog Pepper started intensely rubbing her left eye with her paw and cleaning it with her saliva (you noticed how cats and dogs do that). My husband and I did not notice anything in the eye. To soothe it, I first put a chamomile lavender tea bag on her eye, and later, black tea bag. It seemed that the black tea was soothing to her as she did not protest it. Yet, the eye still bothered her.
Since we did not see anything in her eye which she kept on closing, I rubbed a few oils away from the eye and on her neck's lymph nodes - helichrysum on her forehead and lemongrass on her neck. To destruct Pepper from rubbing her eye, I took her for a walk. Besides, fresh air and movement was good for her circulation and the whole body balancing, I reasoned. We stayed outside as long as she wanted, even walking around the house in circles - whatever she was willing to do.
When we got home, Pepper drank water and went to our bed with me by her side. I need to mention that unfortunately, right before I took Pepper outside, our dog sitter dropped by, which spooked Pepper. She thought that the dog sitter came to take her away. Pepper's tail went down and she walked away to my husband... Subsequently, both Pepper and I got really bad diarrhea. I assume, her fear and my recollection of the last report from the dog sitter, literally shook us up :) (It was over a month ago, when we got home from our vacation, I got sick, emotionally stricken from what the dog sitter told me. As soon as I got Pepper back, she got fine). Pepper's eye got swollen on top, and my husband was thinking to take her to the vet the next day.
The following morning, Pepper was not rubbing her eye anymore, though it was still swollen, yet she was not closing it completely. I took her for a walk - her stomach normalized. When we got home, I rubbed fennel on her front where her gallbladder and spleen are.
I explained to my husband that in this case, her eyes swelling had nothing to do, most likely, with her eyes, that it was the imbalance in her internal organs. Maybe, she has not had a bone for a while, and it was a little too much for her whole body to process. Interestingly enough, our next door dog, a day before, had a hardening on her left eyelid. I gave him a nice bone. The next day or so, his eye cleared up!
Anyways, Pepper's eye was improving! I gave her some raw goat milk mixed with the black tea. She rested quite a bit that day to restore and repair.
Her eye is now back to normal. I rubbed some Juniper on her kidneys for maintenance :)
Every day, I monitor our dog and cat, never forcing them to eat what they don't want to. Same as I do it for myself.
Another time, Pepper's eyes started leaking. I observed that her eyes leaked after she had pet food with organs, bones, etc. I stopped giving her that, and her eyes, after a few days, stopped leaking.
I let her body do the housekeeping naturally, not stopping the body doing the housekeeping. All I did was assisting her - I distracted her from itching it, giving her lunch slowly. The next time, I simply used warm black tea and a cotton ball to gently wash her eye off.
Our other next door neighbor dog had leaky eyes. I shared my story about dog's eyes leaking after eating the pet food. A few days later, my neighbor replied that she noticed that her dog's eyes started leaking after she started giving her dry pet food. Days later, my neighbor reported that their dog's eyes stopped leaking.
It is so important that we feed our furry friends non-toxic food. My friend's parrot got paralyzed after she gave him bad food. Scary! Luckily, she was able to nurse him back to health.
