Post update
I almost fell this morning when I stumbled on a sturdy tree root stump on a path. Thinking how others may fall here, running or walking, I put a good size tree branch over the stump, almost like a bridge.
I reflected immediately on our amazing body - it does the same thing when it can't clear up its path of blood, lymph, nerves, etc. , to continue its flow - it goes around it. At some point, we may get a liquid accumulation, as body's attempt to clear the debris to restore the affected area. It may be anywhere on a TMC meridian path (i.e. bags under the eyes - Kidneys energy). Do we eliminate the bags under the eyes or support the body? (food for thought)
Another example. Years ago, I had too much cod liver oil to soothe my throat, and ended up with puffy narrow eyes. It took days for my body to get rid of extra nutrients. At the time, I did not know much of natural medicine. Good thing, I walked, assisting the body's balancing flow.
Just trying to simplify a big picture here.
"Where the devil's horns grow from" is an expression I translated from Russian. It simply means to get to the root of the problem.
Simple concepts to keep in mind - A. If you want to stop a leak, you would shut the faucet; B. In a compost pile, organisms work in symbiosis to maintain a vibrant pile. There is symbiosis in our sophisticated being.
The most important prerequisite to staying healthy may be being present, meaning, knowing what's going on and acting on the situation instead of blocking it. This refers to both, physical and emotional /mental / spiritual states. If we were a mayflies, we would be simply present to perform whatever physical function in their short lifespan.
Just like every day starts with a sunrise, it helps to remember these simple truths that my body is my ally, which is always transforming to rejuvenate and stay in homeostasis.
When we cut ourselves, our body mobilizes its forces to repair it, when we are cold, it lets us know that we need to get dressed, thirsty - have a drink. Let's not forget our healing hands. Have you noticed how we instinctively grab the ankle if we twist it, massage our tummy if it hurts, put our hands on our forehead if it hurts, massage our neck...
Here is what I did for myself one day when I did not feel well, to support my whole body / mind / spirit.
This time, I had a nerve pain on my left side, on a meridian line, my eye and upper and lower teeth.
Instead of addressing one particular organ of that meridian, I let my body decide what paths to take to get back to balance / homeostasis. I also let my pain be my guiding signal. By pressing on a painful point, I waited for the next pain signal to continue pressing, focusing on a more painful spot. My hands - my body! Interestingly, later on, I checked my Chinese Aromatherapy book, and was pleasantly surprised that I did the right thing to support my liver with the essential oils.
Here is what I did, following my body and intuition.
took a bath (warmed up and relaxed the whole body). At one point, I felt pain in my forehead
made juice with whatever and quantity I felt like (squeezed lemon juice first): parsnip, purple radish, red beats, celery, sunchoke, lettuces, cucumber, purple cabbage, parsley, and carrots. The juice was so delicious! However, the last 2 sips were too much and made me feel nauseous. Eating a banana fixed it. Then, I went for a walk - fresh air for my whole being. Afterwards, I had defrosted raspberries (half a cup) with a coconut smoothie pack.
had hibiscus tea with NingXia Nitro. Note - each herb and anything we consume, has more than one property, minerals, etc.. Our body decides how to use that nutrient. Plus, if one organ is weak, it may affect other organs. Supporting one organ helps the rest.
did alternative nostrils breathing (yoga)
Walked barefoot on the grass and then laid in the grass. This was probably the most effective - I relaxed, felt warmer.
I spend too much time with electronics. I noticed that being on the computer, my hands and body get colder. Have you noticed that there is more dust by the TV? It may be that the computer is sucking my energy. It also may be that I am being inactive for a long time. I need to offset this. That day, I stayed away from electronics.
did a few alignment exercises
I meant to take liver supporting balancing essential oils blend for a long time. I finally did it that morning, mixed with the cold pressed organic buckthorn oil It felt good. I also rubbed essential oils on my head and neck, but I didn't keep a record of that.
So, it's simple - being present in the moment. Listening to my body and paying attention :)
Not giving in...
Btw, I do the same for my dog and cat - I observe what they may need and provide them with choices in food, walking and playing. And most importantly, loving them.
